First, consider the weight and material of your planters. Heavy materials like concrete, thick ceramic, or stone are inherently more stable. For lighter pots, you can add stability by placing a layer of gravel or stones at the bottom before adding soil. This lowers the center of gravity.
Anchoring is your best defense. For balcony railings or ledges, use sturdy brackets, straps, or wires to securely fasten the planter box to a stable structure. On rooftops or patios, you can use guy wires anchored to walls or heavy-duty eye bolts.
