First, increase the weight of your planter box. Fill the bottom one-third with heavy materials like gravel, pebbles, or broken pottery before adding soil. For permanent setups, consider using concrete pavers or bricks as a base inside the box. Choosing planters made from heavier materials like concrete, stone, or thick ceramic also provides inherent stability compared to lightweight plastic or fiberglass.
Securely anchor your planter box to a stable structure. For balcony railings or ledges, use sturdy brackets, durable straps, or strong wires to fasten the box. If on a patio or rooftop, you can use eye bolts and cord to tie it to fixed railings.
