This depth allows roots to establish properly, access nutrients, and anchor the plant. Depth is more crucial than container width. A deep, narrow pot is better than a wide, shallow one.
Equally important is excellent drainage. Ensure your planter has multiple drainage holes. Use a gritty, well-draining soil mix—combine regular potting soil with coarse sand, perlite, or small gravel. A 70:30 ratio of soil to drainage material is a good target.
