That's an excellent question, and it's one of the most important considerations for successful urban gardening. Proper water drainage is absolutely critical for plant health. To answer directly: yes, all of our urban planter boxes are designed with adequate drainage holes. We never offer solid-bottom containers for outdoor planting.
Why is this so crucial? Drainage holes prevent water from accumulating at the bottom of the planter. When soil becomes waterlogged, it suffocates the plant roots by pushing out oxygen. This creates an environment where harmful root rot and fungal diseases can thrive, ultimately killing your plants. The holes allow excess water to escape, ensuring your plants' roots have the perfect balance of moisture and air.
For indoor use, you might use one of our planters without a hole if you're using it as a decorative cover for a simpler, functional pot that does have drainage inside. However, for any long-term outdoor or indoor planting, a container with drainage is non-negotiable for a thriving garden. You can place a shallow saucer underneath the planter box to protect your balcony or patio surface while still allowing the soil to drain properly. Happy planting
